WELCOME TO A CULTURALLY SENSITIVE APPRAOCH TO MENTAL HEALTH CARE
SWANA (Southwest Asian North African ) refers to the region of the world commonly known as the Middle East. This relatively new term is politically neutral and highlights the diversity and commonalities of the region. Swana Coaching was created with cultural sensitivity, in an attempt to provide a nuanced approach to mental health care
Hello
Meet your coach!
Nikki Emadi attended the University of North Texas where she received a B.A. in Psychology in 2002. While obtaining her M.A. in Counseling Psychoanalysis from the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis, Nikki started working as an independent contractor offering training services for government agencies such as foster parent groups as well as private coaching for parents and families. In 2008, Nikki returned home to the DC area and found that Iranian-American families were reaching out for help from someone who understood the language and culture. It became apparent that inter-cultural conflicts which arise in immigrant families are shared among a multitude of languages and countries, so the focus on coaching shifted towards families of -but not limited to- the Swana region.
